About us
Earth Concern Asia is a people’s platform which is not for profit. It aims to mobilize citizens across Asia to debate, discuss and mobilize themselves to address the causes and consequences of Climate Change, Food Secutiry, Livelihood and Natural Disaster in their villages, countries and regions. This platform aims to create creative common space where people can talk about their real issues and concerns both at institutional and individual levels.
This space equally promotes people working in organizations, political parties, universities, unions, social movements, and also individuals who are not associated with any institutions but want to express their issues and be part of the change process.
We are evolving as a people’s platform to discuss about the practical issues as well as the issues that are affecting the policy priorities. We promote a space where both the policy and community level perspectives find their space which significantly contributes for the development of pro-poor policies. Moreover, Earth Concern Asia is promoting a Multi-sectoral response to the causes and consequences of climate change.
We strongly acknowledge the importance of the work that many state and non state agencies are doing in the region. However, there are evidences that sometime such good efforts are also limited within the project specific domain and end up with reports. Thus this platform aims to bring those information and knowledge into the public domain so that we can democratize knowledge base. In this sense, we are trying to connect all likeminded state and non-state actors to be with us and participate in debates, discussions and share relevant information. We strongly believe that this galvanized strength will make a huge difference in larger policy advocacy initiatives.
At the country level, there are networks and organizations working on various aspects of climate change. However, it is extremely important to connect country base initiatives at the regional level as local issues are deeply connected within the regional and global contexts. Our efforts should simultaneously take place at various levels for the sustained impact in the lives of people. Thus, Earth Concern Asia is promoting national level organizations to be linked up with the regional and global initiatives. We will create and provide space for such initiatives.
We’ are likeminded individuals and institutions from across Asia working together for the growth of this platform. We do believe in horizontal working relations because this has the power to connect and inspire people. As a people’s platform we want to expand the creative space for people’s politics so that everyone can be part of the process, take responsibility for the cause and make the state actors accountable to their promises. We are promoting action, communication, voluntarism and solidarity.
We also have volunteers who are working from different countries. For the administrative and day to day communication facilitation all communications are diverted to the communication and coordination focal point in the International Secretariat.
